Erik Akervik Named as New Regional Account Manager for Walker and Associates

Walker and Associates, Inc., a telecommunications equipment distributor headquartered in North Carolina, has announced Erik Akervik as its new Regional Account Manager for their Midwest territory. He will call on established customers in the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, as well as generate new business opportunities within the territory. His office will be located within the greater Minneapolis area.

A lifelong resident of Minnesota, Akervik completed a BS degree in marketing at Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2006. His career in telecommunications began the following year when he joined an invitation-only Professional Development Program at ADC Telecommunications, headquartered in Eden Prairie, MN. The program exposed him to a broad scope of the organization and the industry as he worked under the direct supervision of the VP of Sales Operations and Customer Service. Upon completion of that program, he worked as a Channel Sales Manager for ADC, assuming leadership responsibilities for selected channel partners. Work experience in that role allowed him to work directly with customers, develop his technical expertise, and work closely with contract negotiations.
