| Background: | Virginia Marshall Walker and her late husband, Chris Walker co-founded Walker and Associates, Inc. in 1970 out of their Chester, VA home. Virginia handled all the Operations and Finance while Chris covered the nationwide sales to build a multi-million dollar family distribution business. As the company grew, Virginia has held many positions within the corporation as well as raised her family. Prior to assuming the post of Chairman of the Board in 2000, she was Secretary/Treasurer of the corporation as well as an active Board member in the day-to-day business of Walker and Associates, Evergood, and other divisions of Walker Group. Currently, she is Chief Executive Officer for Walker and Associates and operates out of the Chester, VA office. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Longwood College, VA. | |

She returned to the telecommunications industry with Walker in 1997. Prior to that Ms. Brightwell had been Manager Customer Satisfaction World Wide for Sara Lee Corporation as well as serving in other roles within the textile industry. From 1984-1988, Ms. Brightwell had worked with the fiber optic start-ups of Celwave and DITEL which were bought by Alcatel. Education achievements include MBA from the Babcock Graduate School of Management’s Executive Program at Wake Forest University, MA from George Washington and BS in Journalism/PR from the University of South Carolina. In addition, Ms. Brightwell currently serves on the Board of Directors of Wake Forest University’s Family Business Center of the Angell Center for Entrepreneurship. She is also a Coleman Scholar and participant in the MWBE Division of the U.S. Association of Small Business & Entrepreneurship (USASBE). | |
